White Salmon Valley Community Library serves residents in the Mid Columbia Gorge from a building with an unexpected past — a former bowling alley and retail space reimagined into a bright, modern library. Today the library fosters discovery and connection through its collections, technology, art gallery, seed library, and events that include storytimes, book groups for adults and children, fiber art sessions, technology help, and more.
Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library support the library and greater community through book sales and volunteer fundraising – helping ensure the library can keep offering the programs and resources Gorge families rely on.

White Salmon Valley Reads and other programs are made possible through funding from the Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library. The annual Community Reads begins each summer when complimentary copies of the chosen book are made available to the public. The October kick-off includes a reception that features works related to the book by local artists. Weekly programs throughout October include an author talk and various interactive sessions and presentations by specialists. Every program is open to the public at no cost, hosted at White Salmon Valley Community Library. No registration required.

The popular Friends Bookstore is open during all hours of Library operation. Cash or checks are accepted.

Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library meetings are open to anyone who is interested in our library. Membership meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 12:30 PM during February, April, June, September & November (subject to change). Meetings are held in the Sprint/Baker Gallery at the library. Check the FVRL events calendar for our next meeting date, time, and location — All are welcome!

Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library raises money that goes directly back into White Salmon Valley Community Library, funding the extras that the library district’s budget can’t always cover. Recent and ongoing support includes:
Every dollar raised through our bookstore and fundraisers stays local, supporting White Salmon Valley Community Library and the community it serves.
Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library is an all-volunteer organization made up of neighbors who care about our Library and want to see it thrive. Our members are local residents and others — book lovers, retirees, parents, and patrons — who volunteer their time to raise funds, manage book sales, and advocate for the library’s needs.
We’re part of something bigger: Each Friends of the Library (FOL) organization supports every other Fort Vancouver Regional Library FOL group – extending from Woodland and Clark County all the way out to the Columbia Gorge. Through the FVRL Foundation, our group connects with Friends from other branches to share ideas, celebrate successes, and support one another. We know that when one branch’s Friends group succeeds, the whole FVRL community benefits.
Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the umbrella of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation (Federal Tax ID 91-1456753), which handles our federal and state nonprofit filing and financial reporting on our behalf. This lets our volunteers focus on serving the White Salmon Valley Community Library rather than nonprofit paperwork. Donations to Friends of White Salmon Valley Community Library are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
